Naval architecture firm Deltamarin’s design for the largest pure car and truck carriers (PCTCs) recieved Approval in Principal (AIP) from DNV

While the current largest PCTCs are Hoegh Autoliners’ Horizon-class with 8,500 CEU capacity, DNV approved the new design of Deltamarin, which will top Hoegh Autoliners’ 8,500 CEU capacity with an 11,000 CEU capacity.

Features of the LNG powered vessel includes high energy efficiency, excellent EEDI performance as well as features like solar panels, waste heat recovery and air lubrication.

The car carriers market seems to be growing with Seaspan Corporation ordering a series of PCTCs with a capacity of 10,800 CEUs with a scheduled delivery of 2027.
