Besiktas Shipyard launches dual-fuel tanker for Desgagnés

Besiktas Shipyard’s new launch for the Canadian shipping company Desgagnés Group, is another dual-fuel LNG IMO-II chemical tanker M/T Rossi A. Desgagnés, the 14.000-dwt-tanker launched on 5 May, is an ice-class and the last one in a series of four asphalt-bitumen-chemical tankers that were ordered by Desgagnés; each of which can be powered by any of three types of fuel: Heavy fuel oil, marine diesel oil or liquefied natural gas (LNG).

With its 10.000 gross tons of weight, the new vessel features a length of 135 meters and a width of 23,5 meters. The unit currently has a market value of around USD 20,9 million, according to VesselsValue‘s data.

In choronological order, Desgagnés’s batch deliveries at Besiktas Shipyard’s facilities were as follows: The third ship, Paul A. Desgagnés, was launched in July 2017. Mia Desgagnés, the second tanker, in December 2016. And Damia Desgagnés, which was the world’s first dual fuel LNG asphalt tanker, in April 2017.
