The American Bureau of Shipping (ABS), a maritime classification society, organized a seminar on “Classification & Client Orientation” at Istanbul’s Four Seasons Hotel on March 31, 2010. Main topics discussed at the seminar included the role of classification, surveys to prevent business disruptions, port state control, compliance with low sulfur regulation and dry-docking surveys.
Benefits offered by the ABS classification were also taken up during the seminar. Panelists underlined that verification of compliance regulations and recognized standards protects capital investment, shows responsible stewardship and also meets underwriting requirements.
